The IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free basic tax return preparation to qualified individuals. The VITA program has operated for over 50 years.

VITA sites offer free tax help to people who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns, including: People who generally make $67,000 or less, persons with disabilities, and limited English-speaking taxpayers.

The Windsor Public Library will have VITA on site for appointments on Monday evenings from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Monday, February 3 through Monday, April 14 (excluding Monday, February 17 which is President’s Day). Please call the Reference Desk at 860-285-1918 to find out what is available after mid-January.

Appointments are required. Appointments will be at 5:00 PM, 6:00 PM, and 7:00 PM. We are unsure of how many volunteers we will have and therefore do not know how many appointments we will have per hour.

The Wilson Branch will have VITA on site on select Saturdays during the tax season. The Saturdays that VITA will be at Wilson are February 8, February 15, February 22, March 8, March 15, March 22, March 29. Appointments will be at 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM, and 1:00 PM. Please call the Wilson Branch at 860-247-8960 to request an appointment.

If you have more questions about VITA in Windsor, please reach out to Danielle Tapper at [email protected] or 860-285-1925.
